For many years there were two main players operating the service in the UK, O2 and Vodafone. In 2012 the ...

Problems with TAP SMS over PSTN

Problem: Having only just realized that the O2 SMS gateway is not reliable [when I first realised I should have had alerts, I thought my SD2 dialler had died], I have contacted O2 who are looking into the service, and they maintain that it should be running at the time of writing [November 2011] but advise me that it will cease operation around April 2012. Vodafone Tap Gateway

Well it looks like the Vodafone TAP is getting less reliable every day. Today it was only sending around 10% of messages from a Castle Euro 46. Tried it on 2 other panels at different sites, story was the same. Pyronix/Castle keep selling it though. Why do they release bulletins like this  http://shl.createsen...C70DBB5D28FA0F4 claiming it is reliable when the TAP is out of their control. ...

The number it calls is 07960 980480, but this number now seems either permanently engaged or just doesn't answer at all. O2 (who run the number) don't seem to even know what i'm talking about! Vodafone also have a...
