T-Mobile UK Drops Support for Mobile Tethering on Unlimited Data Tariffs

T-Mobile UK has confirmed that it is dropping support for mobile tethering — the use of a mobile phone as a mobile broadband modem — on its unlimited data tariffs.

The move only applies to new customers, so existing customers should not be affected by the change – for now.

The tariff, called Full Monty Plan was advertised as allowing users to “use their mobile internet for whatever they like — including tethering (using a smartphone as an internet connection for a laptop or tablet), streaming and downloading.”

In a statement, T-Mobile confirmed that as from earlier this week, tethering is not permitted for new customers under the terms and conditions of the Full Monty.

They added that they offer a range of smartphone and mobile broadband plans that include tethering for customers who want to stay connected on other devices. However, these tariffs also include download limits, unlike the Full Monty tariff.
